Salary Range:Pay rate $27.84 - $33.14/hr with annual pay of $57,907 - $68,931 with 3 - 5 years seniority.

New Hires in Belen, NM-Laborers and Apprentice Carmen at these locations are eligible for a $5,000 hiring incentive - payable over ten (10) months in two equal installments of $2500available for candidates.Specialty/ Skilled positions - Electricians, Machinists, Sheetmetal workers and carded Carmen locations are eligible for a $7500 hiring incentive - payable over ten (10) months in two equal installments of $3750 available for candidates who meet all qualifications below:

Offered a position and successfully complete the pre-employment process

Successful completion of the first four months of new-hire training and service to be eligible for the first $2500 or $3750 installment

Complete 6 additional months of active service at the hired location to be eligible for the second $2500 or $3750 installment.

This incentive will include a 3-year hold-down.Leaving the location or job for any reason (including relocation of more than 50 miles from the headquartered location) will result in 100% repayment and forfeiture of future payments.

Relocation incentives are also available for these locations in the amount up to $2,500 w/ proof of bona fide move to a Mechanical hiring location and signed Repayment Agreement.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for inspecting, repairingand maintainingengine and mechanical components of diesel locomotives.Additional responsibilities include the following:

LOCOMOTIVE ENGINE MAINTENANCE

  • Repair running gears (wheels, springs, hangers, andbrake rigging traction motors)

  • Test and repairbrake systems, safety appliances, couplers, draft systems, air compressors, safety valves, lube oil pumps filter systems, fuel systems, radiators and shutters

  • Install, disassemble, assemble, repair or replace locomotive diesel engine components

  • Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance on tools and equipment

INSPECTING

  • Inspect locomotive components

  • Diagnose malfunctions in diesel engines, air equipment and trucks

SHIFTS/HOURS

  • Full-time (40hrs/wk)

  • Subject seniority and governed by union agreement

  • Assigned shift maybe one of three 8-hour shifts

  • Mechanical shops operate 24 hours/day, 7 days/week

  • Available to work any shift required

TRAVEL

  • Minimal

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 18 years of age, or will be by the anticipated start date listed above

  • Ability to report for duty at the designated work location

  • Able to work safely in the above working conditions

  • Able toworkthe above shift/hours

  • Abilityto read, write and communicate (speak, hear and understand) English

  • Abilityto lift and carry up to 50lbs

  • Possess validstate-issued driver's license

  • Abilityto visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow

  • Ability to discriminate and differentiate between verbal and non-verbal sounds (signals, alarms, etc.) in the work environment

  • Ability to use hands and use hand tools to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning and pulling

  • Ability toclimb ladders and get on/off equipment

  • Ability to occasionally work at various heights above the ground, including working on top of a locomotive

  • Ability tobend, walk,standandsit occasionally with breaks

  • Follow safety policies and procedures; wear required personal protective equipment
