The Humanities Division at UNM-Valencia anticipates hiring a Temporary Part-Time Faculty member to teach 1-2 Spanish courses at the 1000-2000 college level in Fall 2023, Spring 2024, and/or Summer 2024. Positions are contingent upon the need of each semester as determined by student enrollment levels and current course offerings.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia county, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs, technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education, and Dual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of approximately 1,900 students per semester. UNM has earned the platinum-level distinction from FamilyFriendlyNM.org for its workplace policies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree in Spanish (or related field)
  • One-year Spanish teaching experience at the post-secondary level

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Spanish (or related field)
  • One-year Spanish teaching experience at a community college
  • One year teaching experience using Canvas
  • Excellence in teaching (documented via strong student or supervisor evaluations)
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
