Position Summary |
The
University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Department of Cell Biology and
Physiology is currently recruiting a full-time, enthusiastic Computational
Biologist in the Brain Tumor Translational Laboratory at North Campus. The
laboratory investigates the genetic and functional heterogeneity of tumor
stem-like cells that initiate and sustain brain tumor growth. The
selected individual will be responsible to analyze multi-omics data (genomics,
single-cell/single-nucleus transcriptomics, spatial profiling and metabolomics)
generated in the lab from patient samples as well as publicly available.
Applicants with an MSc in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related
field of science are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will work on interdisciplinary projects in
close collaboration with the PI, the
lab members and our bioinformatic collaborators. For
these tasks, excellent organizational, record-keeping, and interpersonal skills
are essential.

Conditions of Employment |
- For individual positions in which driving is a job requirement, a valid NM driver's license and valid UNM driver's permit will be required.
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.

Minimum Qualifications |
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |
Preferred Qualifications |
- Ability to analyze multi-omics datasets (generated in the lab as well as publicly available);
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in cancer genomics and bioinformatics;
- Previous working experience in a research laboratory;
- Experience with good laboratory practice, and routine lab maintenance procedures;
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- The successful candidate will be expected to exhibit individual initiative and be technically proficient and accurate.
