Requisition ID req26205 Working Title Operations Specialist Position Grade 11 Position Summary

Intramural Sports Program

Manage comprehensive Intramural Sports program to include team and individual sport leagues and tournaments. Hire, train and evaluate student employees. Responsible for equipment purchases. Manage comprehensive risk management program for club sports and intramural sports. Create reports as required. Monitor budget as required.

  • Develop and achieve short- and long-term planning, strategy and goals that achieve the mission and vision and of intramural sports, events and the department.
  • Identify and provide Intramural Sports, clinics, and/or education that are of interest to a growing and diverse student population.
  • Develop and update individual sport officials training and rules per sport including, but not limited to, basketball (5v5, 3v3), flag football (7v7, 4v4), volleyball (6v6, 4v4), soccer (11v11, 7v7), softball, ultimate frisbee, dodgeball, kickball, wiffleball, tennis, racquetball, spikeball, and pickleball. Ensure required certifications are earned and maintained.
  • Develop intramural sports leagues, tournaments, and special events. Create and publish schedules and playoff brackets.
  • Create and deliver captain and player expectations for all IM opportunities and conduct player disciplinary meetings.
  • Develop and facilitate inter- and intra-departmental events including, but not limited to, student orientation, welcome week, homecoming and other student centric events. Conduct full planning, facilitation, staff oversight and budget projections/reconciliation and event evaluations.
  • Provide fiscal development and oversight in achieving intramural sports, event and department's operating budgets. Develop and monitor monthly, quarterly and annual financial targets for revenue and expense budgets.
  • Establish program and event fees and charges, prepare purchase requests, payroll, and financial reports.
  • Coordinate program facility needs. Oversee equipment purchase, rental and replacement.
  • Create and implement marketing plans and materials including website updates. Assist with social media content creation, tabling events, and other marketing efforts as necessary.
  • Coordinate area specific assessment efforts, reports, participation data development and analysis; formulate, recommend, approve and implement policies, procedures, controls, and manage processes to advance service levels and improve efficiencies.
  • Assume lead or assist in various department responsibilities related to emergency action plan preparation and execution, safety/risk management, marketing, student development, and special events.
  • Maintain American Red Cross Instructor certification and conduct CPR/First Aid/AED classes for staff and department as needed.
  • Serve as liaison to internal departments, external entities and community organizations and work to develop partnerships to enhance the student experience and reach groups with traditionally low participation in Campus Recreation programs.
  • Serve on various university, division and departmental committees and represent the department among various state and national associations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summer Camps

Manage summer youth recreation program (RAD Camp). RAD Camp, catering to ages 8 to 12, provides important developmental experiences to help kids to engage in play that facilitates learning and growing while "out of school". The relationship with our families is tantamount to the success of our RAD camp experience. This person will examine how to provide the best programs and services and make the process of registering and engaging adolescents in camps as easy and user-friendly as possible for parents and families.

  • All logistics for drop-off and pick-up of students. Coordinate with Parking and Transportation Services as necessary.
  • Hire and train student counselors and recreation leaders.
  • Purchase equipment as needed and maintain accurate budget records.
  • Maintain appropriate safety and risk management policies. Conduct training of staff on these policies.
  • Schedule all activities and special events.
  • Coordinate with facility manager and university departments to secure space needs for camp.
  • Provide weekly schedules to professional staff, facility management, and front office staff.
  • Create and implement marketing plans and materials including website updates. Assist with social media content creation, tabling events, and other marketing efforts as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
