The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) and the UNM branches in Gallup and Taos seek a highly motivated individual to work as a member of the Faculty Research Development Office (FRDO) to build strong, competitive research programs across the UNM communities. The Faculty Research Support Officer (FRSO) will assist in grant and research development activities and development of proposals for external funding to support community development, research, and creative activities. The FRSO will have the opportunity to develop or expand expertise in rural, Hispanic-, and Native American - serving grants. The FRSO will assist faculty and staff in developing the non-technical portions of proposals, including program development, evaluation and data management plans, project management plans, statements of significance or broader impacts, and compelling project summaries. The FRSO will also advise faculty and staff in collaborative planning, grant seeking, budgeting, agency policies, and navigating the University proposal submission process. The successful candidate will be driven to address inequity through education, have excellent writing, editing and problem-solving skills, be highly organized, and able to work effectively as part of a team, managing multiple activities with firm deadlines. This position will be based in Albuquerque, NM and will require occasional travel within the state of New Mexico.
Summary
Seeks grant opportunities relevant to branch needs. Leads, guides and facilitates the pre-award grant preparation and submission process. Advises and assists departments with process and extramural funding issues related to funding agency regulations and standards, and oversees adherence to University administrative, fiscal, and accounting policies and procedures related to grant proposals. Provides expert leadership in the areas of project planning and development, and strategic grants management.

Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
