Overview

Now hiring a Catholic Priest - Associate Chaplain.

A Catholic Priest, trained in basic spiritual care assessments and interventions. Completes basic spiritual care assessments and care delivery to patients, families, and associates of all religious denomination. Assists individuals with the integration of spiritual and cultural traditions into the plan of care. Offers basic support and counseling during crisis and non-crisis events. Is inclusive of individuals of all faiths and no faith; works to facilitate communication between individuals and their faith communities. Refers complex cases and ethical issues to a staff or clinical chaplain.

Ideal Candidate:

Must have a Bachelors Degree required, Masters preferred.

Ordination as a Catholic Priest within the Roman Catholic Church.

Flexibility and availability to work on a PRN basis, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications
    Bachelors Degree required, Masters preferred.
  • Ordination as a Catholic Priest within the Roman Catholic Church.
  • Ecclesiastical endorsement or good standing with the local diocese.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide compassionate and empathetic pastoral care in a healthcare setting.
  • Understanding of medical ethics and the ability to navigate complex ethical situations.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in pastoral and counseling relationships.
  • Familiarity with the hospital environment and sensitivity to diverse cultural and religious beliefs.



Responsibilities
  • Offer spiritual support and guidance to patients, families, and hospital staff members during times of illness, crisis, and loss.
  • Conduct Catholic sacraments and rituals, including administering Holy Communion, Anointing of the Sick, and providing Last Rites as necessary, and hearing confessions.
  • Visit patients in hospital rooms to provide emotional and spiritual comfort, addressing their religious needs.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support holistic patient care.
  • Conduct religious services, such as Mass, in hospital chapels or designated areas as appropriate.
  • Facilitate prayer services and religious rituals for patients and families as requested.
  • Provide counseling and assistance in addressing ethical or spiritual dilemmas that may arise in a healthcare setting.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to respond to urgent spiritual needs outside regular working hours.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of pastoral visits and interactions.
