This is a hybrid position at either our Milwaukee office or our New York City office. ( The Milwaukee office requires onsite M, T, and W or in our NYC office on Thursday plus 1 other day.)

Summary

Dig deep into a specific business area and help define the details of how to drive business results through technology. Work on a cross-functional team of product managers, engineers, designers, and subject matter experts in an agile methodology to deliver on outcomes.

This role works with limited supervision in a single IAM Domain, focusing on larger and more complex projects. They possess a moderate understanding of Identity & Access Management beyond their domain and how their work impacts others. They have a solid understanding of general security frameworks and delivery models, exhibit a continuous learning mindset, and demonstrate advanced skills in requirements gathering and aligning technical objectives with business objectives. They provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship within their IAM Domain, lead collaboration with third-party vendors, and stay updated with the latest IAM technologies and threats to proactively implement risk mitigation measures.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works with minimal supervision on large, complex IAM projects; often providing direction to others on the team.

  • Is a leader within the PAM Team with the expectation to guide and mentor more junior members. This includes overseeing the work performed by junior engineers, mentoring their technical educational activities, freely sharing knowledge and testing techniques.

  • Participate in code reviews for team-developed code, give guidance and recommendations for more junior engineers

  • Give input into the PAM team strategy, architecture, and designs.

  • The IAM engineer role may design, develop, test, implement, and integrate identity and access management frameworks, systems, and protocols.

  • Engineer solutions for the management of privileged access within our cloud, on-prem, container, and server environments.

  • Design, implement, and manage our cloud and on-prem PAM tooling infrastructure.

  • Develop and improve our pipeline-based automation.

  • Create, maintain, and improve documentation for internal team and customer use.

  • Responding to and resolving security and availability incidents.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information systems or equivalent work experience in the IT field, with at least a portion of that time in Security related position

  • 4-5 years of professional experience required

  • Certification in security space desired (CISSP, CCSP, etc).

  • Proven hands-on experience designing, creating, and maintaining pipeline-driven automation. Terraform experience preferred.

  • Experience with leveraging and securing cloud environments, AWS preferred.

  • Proficient with any of the following languages: Bash, PowerShell, Python, Go, C++, Java, Python, Javascript, or C#

  • Experience designing and building code leveraging API integrations

  • Experience working with, integrating into, or managing PAM tooling.

  • Hands-on knowledge of identity and access management best practices and procedures is a plus.

  • Comfortable working with and troubleshooting containers

  • Experience with engineering best practices including analyzing, designing, developing, deploying, and supporting software solutions and/or infrastructure implementations/upgrades.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong documentation, testing, and automation skills.

  • Strong sense of ownership and the ability to work with a limited set of requirements.

  • Ability to explain technical solutions to technical teams and non-technical teams.

  • Strong ability to align and mature to security practices.

  • Strong ability to align technical needs with business processes.

  • Strong ability to prioritize work based on business objectives.

  • Strong ability to break down work to deliver value incrementally.

Compensation Range:

Pay Range - Start:

$90,930.00

Pay Range - End:

$168,870.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
