The University of New
Mexico, School of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery is
recruiting a board certified or board eligible, Open Rank, Open Track, neurosurgeon with an emphasis
in a CNS
Open Cerebrovascular and Endovascular focused practice. Join 7 established
neurosurgeons and three multidisciplinary Endovascular colleagues currently
practicing and teaching neurosurgery residents within the Department of
Neurosurgery at the University of New Mexico Hospital (including Sandoval
Regional Medical Center) and Lovelace Medical Center, an affiliated private
hospital.
The
University of New Mexico is the only tertiary referral neurosurgical center in
the State of 2.3 million people. UNM is one of six primary stroke centers in
New Mexico and the only center performing thrombectomies. There is a
significant need and opportunity for a neurosurgeon to grow and expand an
established practice focused on the treatment of vascular disorders of the
brain and spine. Overall, the department has a comprehensive practice focusing
on a diverse range of neurological problems in both pediatric and adult
neurosurgery. With recent re-establishment of an ACGME-approved neurosurgery
residency in 2022, there is ample opportunity to teach and be involved in an
academic atmosphere. In addition to resident coverage, all subspecialty
services are supported by advanced practice provider teams. UNM is the only
Level 1 trauma center in the state treating both complex brain and spine
injuries, and participation in the trauma call pool will be expected.
