Pay Range: $38k- $55k.

What You Will Do:

  • Follow all safety guidelines and participate as a fully empowered team member to achieve organization-wide goal of zero incidents.
  • Identify, analyze, and control occupational hazards requiring the application of professional EHS knowledge, skill and abilities.
  • Support EHS Manager in carrying out various EHS programs, reports and procedures for all company employees and processes.
  • Participate as actively certified first aid/CPR practitioner as needed for those in distress on company property. Communicate via radio with other first responders in case of injury, illness, or environmental incident. Post-incident, lead coordination of clean-up, including pick-up of any biohazardous material by third-party vendor.
  • Advise on structural safety requirements based on failure mode analysis; provide guidance regarding protective equipment or safety devices for machines; review proposed occupational safety policies, guidelines and standards for consistency, compliance, and efficacy.
  • Lead root cause analysis for incidents to prevent recurrences. Monitor workers compensation data, administration and reporting as needed.
  • Assist in the development of specialized education and training materials. Conduct specialized safety and environmental training along with recordkeeping. Assist in new employee occupational health, safety and environmental orientation. Demonstrate excellent presentation skills, including engaging the audience, effective presentation of material to various audiences within the organization, adapting style as needed to accommodate different learning needs of the group or individual.
  • Apply knowledge of psychological and physiological factors to assist in the design of safety features, practices and controls, compensating for the possibility of human errors in the operation of machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain the recordkeeping and required reporting for Environmental and Safety Data.
  • Actively support the Safety Committee, ISO 14001, Safe Start, and FSI programs.
  • Must be able to work full-time day-shift schedule, oftentimes to mirror production hours, with flexibility to work additional overtime as needed (sometimes on short notice).
  • Assist the Environmental Technician when needed.
  • Collaborate with other safety departments across Tempur Sealy to ensure shared learnings and best practice communication. Actively participate on regional safety calls.
  • Lead forklift and PIV programs at the plant.

What you will need:

  • Experience working and managing within a matrixed environment.
  • Experience managing programs, which may include managing them through collaboration with other employees and departments.
  • Advanced knowledge of PC usage required, to include using the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Successful program implementation and follow-through experience
  • Superior interpersonal communication skills, including oral and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to train effectively.
  • Able to work independently under general supervision, self-driven to execute on deliverables and exceed expectations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
