Aiding in labs in multiple undergraduate and graduate classes, which includes, but is not limited to, independent calibration and operation of specialized equipment, such as metabolic carts, and isokinetic equipment. Supervising undergraduate interns in the lab, which includes, but is not limited to, teaching them how to calibrate and operate lab equipment; and how to conduct tests, such as VO2max, resting metabolic rate, body composition, and strength assessment. Independent performance of physiological testing for employees, students, and community members, assist the director with calibration and maintenance of lab equipment and facilities, perform fitness testing and interpretation of test results for students in selected PHED activity classes. Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum qualifications: Must have interned or be currently interning in the UNM Exercise Physiology Labs to be eligible for employment in this position, and be currently in either the undergraduate or graduate Exercise Science programs. Be CPR-certified currently and for contract duration. Be CITI program-certified (University of New Mexico, Main Campus) for contract duration

Preferred qualifications: Be able to independently calibrate and use the equipment for testing in various populations (from diseased to athletes): a) maximal oxygen consumption test and resting metabolic rate using a metabolic cart, b) lactate collection during exercise, c) perform blood draws, d) body composition by hydrostatic weighing, air displacement plethysmograph, bioimpedance assessment, and skinfolds, e) strength in isokinetic equipment. Be CITI program-certified (University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center) for contract duration.
