Position Summary | The
Global Education Office is pleased to announce an exciting employment
opportunity! The GEO Center For English Language and American Culture (CELAC)
is seeking an Office Assistant who will work as a team member to provide
outstanding program and clerical support services of moderate complexity under
supervision in a fast-paced environment. CELAC is the university's intensive
English program for international students. The individual may be the first
point of contact for international students regarding the CELAC program. Duties
include: assisting international students with initial questions via phone,
email, or in-person regarding program applications and requirements, housing,
registration, and addressing other various questions or concerns students may
have; general administrative work: filing and organizing; data entry;
electronic classroom management platforms (e.g. Google Drive / Canvas)
assisting staff with event planning, including field trips, orientations, and
check-ins; drafting student letters and documents; and other duties as
assigned. This individual will be required to take all necessary training to
perform job requirements (such as Banner-Securing Private Data, etc.), work
with individuals of many diverse and cultural backgrounds, and work directly
with staff in assisting all sections within the Global Education Office. The
ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information is required.
This person should be energetic and motivated as well as exceedingly organized.
The individual must enjoy working with a diverse international community and
strive to respect all cultural boundaries and differences. Regular and reliable
work hours are required. The successful candidate will work a minimum of 10
hours per week up to a maximum of 20 hours per week. Candidate must be
available to work during evenings, weekends, and all academic breaks. |

Preferred Qualifications - At least 30 credit hours completed
- Strong oral communication skills
- Strong writing skills, including appropriate use of
grammar and punctuation
- Knowledge/ability to communicate comfortably in Spanish is preferred but not required
- Organized self-starter that can work both independently
and in a team setting
- Detail-oriented with a proven ability to multitask
- Previous office and/or administrative experience
- Proficiency in general desktop software (MS Office,
Google, for example)
- Experience in planning student events and engaging the
University's student population
- International experience or foreign language learning
- A valid New Mexico Driver's License at the time
of hire and two years' experience driving in the U.S.
