Motorola Solutions runs a state of the art enterprise network that delivers global Wireless, VoIP and VaaS capabilities as well as HD video collaboration in over 130+ locations worldwide. As a member of the global Corporate Network team, this experienced Wireless Network Engineer will contribute in a lead role to provide oversight and support of Wireless operations, projects, and innovations that improves customer experience.

Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Lead planning and implementation for lifecycle maintenance including system upgrades, performance monitoring etc.

  • Provide operational tier 2 wireless support: identify, triage and resolve wireless issues.

  • Partner with Project Management to lead strategic global technical planning: wifi 6 deployments, product upgrades, mergers & acquisition integrations and real estate projects.

  • Implement wireless network infrastructure projects with cross functional teams.

  • Create overall wireless technical competency via technical training, vendor interactions and conferences to understand the marketplace.

  • Proactively work to improve & optimize Wi-Fi customer experience at MSI Sites

  • Drive and communicate new wireless opportunities.

  • Review and develop wireless system performance reports.

  • Co-develop and present senior level quarterly wireless reports.

  • Act as single point of contact (SPOC) for Wi-Fi Planning & Engineering.

  • Advocate for customer on all Wi-Fi related changes and standards updates

  • Develop, maintain and improve on wireless processes & documentation.

  • Perform wireless network performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.

  • Lead incident rca's and change ticket analysis, identifying trends and kpi outliers.

  • Competent with wireless troubleshooting skills (+ exposed to various tools that can help with wireless troubleshooting)

Required Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years experience as an enterprise Network Engineer

  • Experience with large global projects.

  • Wireless hands on experience with WLAN deployments and support

  • Academic background in Computer Science, Engineering or similar relevant field

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols TCP/IP and WLAN standards 802.11.

  • Ability to use enterprise tools

  • Device and support radio frequency (RF) link performance, reliability, and quality and support WLAN RF plan and site survey tools (Ekahau a plus).

  • WIFI Skill level - CWNP (Certified Wireless Network Professional)

  • Extreme and Cisco Network - advantage

  • LAN and WAN experience - Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)preferred.

  • Experience with senior level reporting

  • Ability to learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.

  • A self-starter able to work independently, but comfortable working in a team environment.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Skilled communication and collaboration skills, dependable and flexible when necessary.

  • Process, documentation and project management skills

Note: Candidate will have to go into the Schaumburg office 1-2 times a week.

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelors degree with 4+ years of network engineering experience and 2+ years of wireless experience.

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
