Position Summary & Duties Responsible

POSITION SUMMARY

The classification will undertake a variety of administrative and program management tasks in support of the operations of programs. This would include planning and organizing programs and activities in assigned areas where they will need to plan, implement assigned programs with strict deadlines while staying within constraints by utilizing resources effectively. The incumbent will facilitate the effective management of programs according to the organization's standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  1. Coordinate special projects and research on planning and development matters. Work with other staff members and related departments or agencies to review permit completeness and progress toward compliance.
  2. Assist contractors, architects, engineers, property owners and others to ensure compliance with approved permits.
  3. Maintain and update database for department files, i.e. applications, inspections and other processes and respond as record custodian to requests for public information.
  4. Monitor and ensure compliance with special use permits.
  5. Prepare recommendations and take enforcement action for non-compliance.
  6. Assist in compiling department statistics and other data related to zoning and planning cases, and other information needed for budget preparation and other purposes.
  7. Monitor and control all phases of project support in order to assure accuracy, timeliness, and effective use of resources.
  8. Conduct site inspections for compliance of various permit processes.
  9. Attend meetings (evening if needed) to present department information.
  10. Prepare oral and written reports and present to boards and commissions.
  11. Incumbent(s) in this classification may handle sensitive and/or confidential records, plans, documents or decisions that require maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information..
  12. Any one position may not include all duties listed. However, the allocation of positions will be determined by the amount of time spent performing the essential duties listed above.
  13. Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's Degree in related field and two (2) years of work experience as it pertains to the purpose of the positions. Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above requirements.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

The offer of this Bernalillo County position requires compliance with the following:

  1. Employee must successfully complete the post-offer employment medical examination and background investigation.
  2. Employee must comply with the safety guidelines of the County.
  3. Employee must complete required FEMA training(s) as assigned to position.
  4. Employee must complete required Supervisor classes if applicable.
  5. Depending on assignment, some positions in this classification may require possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license by employment date and maintain while employed in this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  1. All essential duties are performed mostly indoors, with some positions performing functions in an outdoor and field setting.
  2. Duties are performed in a temperature controlled environment.
  3. Duties are performed on an even surface, which may be carpeted or tile. Working surface is typically dry.
  4. Worker often works alone both with or without directions from supervisor.

EQUIPMENT, TOOLS AND MATERIALS

  1. Equipment typically used in the performance of office duties include telephone, computer keyboard, computer printer, photocopy machine, facsimile machine, and calculator.
  2. Materials and products handled in the course of performing essential duties include files, forms, reports, various other paperwork, and a wide variety of basic office supplies.
